When you decide that you have found your ideal partner, that is the time you start looking for all the BIG day essentials like venue, photographer, wedding attire and thinking about what type of wedding you would like…

A celebrant, if that is what you have chosen is no exception. A celebrant can be given notice and booked up to 18 months before the BIG day, but if that fails to happen, then it should be at least one month. A shortening can occur but for very specific reasons. Only a few things qualify for a shortening of NOIM (notice of intent to marry) and it is up to an authorised person to grant such an exception, so the rule generally isat least one month and not more than 18 months.

Have you been previously married, are you divorced, do you have a birth certifiicate, passport etc. You must satisfy a celebrant that you are free to marry the person of your choosing and that you are who you say you are…

But don’t worry, we will walk you through the process and get you hitched legally so that you can change your name, choose not to change your name or whatever you decide… Just before the big day, you will have to sign a declaration of no legal impediment to marriage and then on the day, 3 forms to sign each as well as two witnesses over the age of 18 and you are on your way to being legally married… couldn’t be easier…

If you want to get a head start, you can download the latest NOIM form here, or alternatively I can help you fill it out on booking…
